History
The institute was established as an educational branch of the Irkutsk institute of National Economy in November, 20, 1985. It was a small educational establishment with part-time students only. In 1991 a full-time department was opened. The institute was renamed several times in 1997 it got the name the Chita institute of Irkutsk national academy of Economics, in 2002 – the Chita institute of Baikal national university of Economics and Law and later in 2015 – the Chita institute of Baikal national university.
In November 30, 2010 the College of Trade and Economics became the first educational level of the institute.
